The TMX Finance® Family of Companies is looking for an Employment Paralegal to become part of a sharp, dedicated, and proactive team that provides guidance to the Company in interpreting the laws and regulations that govern our industry. You will use your paralegal experience to work on a broad range of complex legal issues related to employee relations including employment litigation/arbitration, risk management for employment related liability and internal investigations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Partner closely with the Employment Team and Human Resources to help develop and implement policies and procedures and advise on a wide range of employment matters affecting the Company.

Liaise with outside attorneys to assist with employment matters and minimizing potential legal liability while achieving business goals.

Assist in the management of employment-related litigation including coordinating and directing case strategy, discovery, drafting and editing briefs, interviewing witnesses, and preparing for negotiations.

Assist with responding to charges of employment discrimination filed with the EEOC or other state agencies, and related fact-finding investigations, conferences and mediations.

Provide legal support and assist with responding to federal and state agencies regarding wage and hour issues.

Consult on strategy and provide recommendations on current Company policies, guidelines and practices.

Act as the primary contact for invoice and matter management on employment-related matters through CounselLink cloud-based software.

Professionally collaborate with all levels of management and C-level executives.

Effectively multi-task and coordinate workload under pressure in order to meet aggressive and time-sensitive deadlines.

Research specific business or legal issues in a thorough and effective manner.

Communicate effectively with all team members, both orally and in writing.

Interpret instructions and work independently to produce high quality work product.

Manage other projects as required or assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, paralegal certificate OR the equivalent combination of formal education, training and or experience (may consider someone currently enrolled in a Paralegal Program)
  • 1 to 3 years of paralegal experience or equivalent relevant experience
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, superior organizational skills
  • Strong legal and factual analytical abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of business and legal principles
  • Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular attendance at a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the ability to work extended hours, as needed
  • Technical proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant employment experience including law firm and/or in-house position(s) preferred
